Have you found the perfect site and now want to build your dream home? Or do you already know what your house will look like, but are looking for a suitable lot? Furthermore you are faced with deciding whether to build an individual architect-designed house or to subcontract building an already designed house to a building contractor.

The architect designs the house to your wishes. He looks after you before and during the construction phase and represents you during inspection of the building. Since he is intensively occupied with exterior and interior design, his time is expensive. You jointly agree his payment will be a percentage of the construction costs.

Here, you determine the type of house you want with the general contractor. You agree the final purchase price for the house and land and agree on the moving-in date. Many general contractors can also offer you parcels of land. You are able to subcontract your changes to the interior design up to a certain point for an additional cost. After signing the purchase contract the contractor is responsible for the complete building project and you can concentrate on the moving-in date.
