The parent Basler Kantonalbank holds 57.6% of the shares in Bank Coop AG, thereby continuing to be the majority shareholder. Basler Kantonalbank also has an equity interest in the processing center Sourcag AG and in “EVA – the Basel life-sciences start-up agency”. Furthermore, a partnership exists with the banking software provider Avaloq.

The parent Basler Kantonalbank and Bank Coop operate successfully under the shared umbrella as complementarily positioned all-service banks. The parent Basler Kantonalbank offers its outstanding high-quality financial services primarily in the Northwest Switzerland region and has a Swiss-wide presence only in selected customer sectors; notably, private and professional banking. In contrast, Bank Coop is positioned as a sales-oriented retail bank with a complete range of service offerings throughout Switzerland. Basler Kantonalbank and Bank Coop have individually organized operations with independent market presence.

The parent Basler Kantonalbank has outsourced the processing of payments and securities transactions to Sourcag AG. Sourcag AG is managed as an independent subsidiary of Swisscom IT Services AG – Basler Kantonalbank owns a minority interest.

With its holding in EVA, Basler Kantonalbank wishes to contribute to the promotion of metrobasel and in particular to Basel as a life sciences location. EVA represents – in conjunction with BLKB and other investors – a primary vehicle for the economic development of the Northwest Switzerland region. EVA is a privately held company with extensive experience in the life sciences sector, which supports and accompanies innovative new companies during the start-up phase. Thus EVA makes an important contribution to the sustained development and creation of highly qualified jobs in the region.
